Indian Community Benevolent Forum (ICBF), the apex bodies under the patronage of Embassy of India, Qatar had inaugurated a Legal Clinic on 05th October 2019.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed in this regard and with M/s. Kochery and Partners represented by Advocate Dr. Nizar Kochery, who is well known among the Indian Community and ICBF represented by the President, Mr. P.N. Babu Rajan in the presence of H.E. Mr. P. Kumaran, Ambassador of India to Qatar.
The legal clinic was launched as many of the Indian citizens ended up in trouble due to ignorance of the Qatari Law. The intention of the Legal clinic was to provide preliminary support to the needy and guide them with the Legal process in Qatar. It was also to help create an awareness of the legal aspects which an expatriate needs to follow while working in Qatar.
community members who wanted legal help could walk in on the designated day and meet the Legal team who would provide counselling and advice on the course of action to be taken for free. Since the launch of the program, at least 250-300 needy members (i.e., averaging 25-30 members every month) have availed the services of the Legal Clinic. In addition to the Legal support of the community members, a support to the Indian citizens who are in Jail too has been provided on a case to case basis.
In addition to the Legal advice, a 30minute awareness session on various topics such as “Employment Contracts, Gratuity, Workmen Compensation” etc., is handled by Dr. Nizar Kochery for the benefit of the community members.
Members of the Indian Community are requested to spread the news and inform this to the needy and support the cause. Registration forms are made available the IICC Helpdesk.
